The Reflection on Workshop for Health Care in Ontario

The workshop was offered on Oct. 25, which was on the topic of healthcare service in Ontario. It was useful and helpful to people who live in Ontario, especially for newcomers. During the workshop, what I learned was the following:
  • The goverment pays all or part of health care cost if people have health cards in Ontario.
  • People can find their family doctors by www.cpso.on.ca if they do not have.
  • Apply the free dental service for children who are under 17 years old in low-income levers in Ontario. For example, people can search free dental service information from web site http://www.toronto.ca/health/dental.
  • You do not need to make an appointment in walk-in clinics just walk-in.
  • Ambulance service is not free if people accept to be taken to hospitals. They must pay $45 or even $240.
  • What is the difference between urgent care and emergency care. If people whose problems are not life-threatening need help within half an hour, it is better to get help from urgent care centre or even their family doctors. Otherwise, people whose condition are life-threatening should call 911 immediately to get emergency care to save their lives.
  • There is a free MedVisit house call service for those who have a health card. If they do not have one, they must pay $125 in cash.
  • Get immunization records. People can call their family doctors to make an appoinment to get it if they needed.
  • Telehealth Ontario. People can make free and confidential phonecalls to get free health advice from Registered Nurses.
  • People can call 416-327-4282 if they have questions about using the health care system in Ontario.

The Exciting Experience of Small Business Forum

The students in LINC 4 went with their teacher, Joseph, to attend the Small Business Forum in downtown on October 16, 2012. It was an exciting experience for me. Firstly, I could practice my English speaking and listening with native speakers. I talked with some entrepreneurs in English, which I thought that was a good chance to practice my English. Secondly, it was a very good chance to research and start my own business in the future. I met some entrepreneurs and got some information from their company so that I could get professional help if I needed it. Finally, everyone who attended the Small Business Forum could get some souvenirs, such as pens, pencils, and candies. To sum up, I was excited in the trip to the Small Business Forum, and I'd like to attend others such events in the future.

My First Blog Experience in LINC 4

Although blogging is not a new thing in the hi-tech society, it is really a new thing for me. I had never had a blog experience before creating a blog today. At the beginning of the computer class, I worried about how to create a blog using the computer. Fortunately, our teacher, Joseph, guided us in how to create a blog step by step, and everybody can create his or her blog easily. I was glad to have a blog account because I can read my classmates' blogs, and I can learn new things from their blogs.
